Discovery World website(s), which include discoveryworldschools.com and all its sub-domains, folders, and files contained, (herein referred to as the “Website” or “Site”) is owned and operated by Discovery World (herein referred to as the “Company”). The terms “we”, “us”, “our” and words of similar import refer to the Company. The terms “you”, “user”, “visitor” and words of similar import refer to any person making use of any content, products, services, or functionalities on the Site.

The Company maintains the Site to provide information on its educational, recreational, and childcare services, (herein referred to as the “Services”), and to market the Services to potential customers. In doing so, it may collect personal information from you in order to improve the Services, as well as the marketing and user experience, to you and others with similar interests.

We are committed to protecting the privacy of our users while they interact with the content, products, services, and functionalities on the Site. This Privacy Policy applies to the Site only. It does not apply to other websites to which we link or to information collected offline.   Because we gather certain types of information about our users, we want you to understand what information we collect about you, how we collect it, how that information is used, and how you can control our disclosure of it.

You may visit the Site anonymously. However, when making use of certain functionalities of the Site, we collect two types of information from you: i) information that you voluntarily provide to us (e.g. through voluntary registration, creation of accounts, requests for information, placement of orders, etc.); and ii) information that is derived through automated tracking mechanisms.

  • Voluntary User Registration & Account Information.

In order to fully access this Site, you must first complete the user registration process, during which we will collect personal information about you and your children. The registration information includes, but is not limited to, your full name, email address, phone numbers, IP address, your mailing address (optional), and information about your child(ren). The child information may include, but is not limited to, the child’s full name, birth date, age, age group, developmental skills, desired start date, and desired services.

By registering and creating child accounts with us, you consent to the use and method of disclosure as described in this Privacy Policy.

 

  • Voluntary Information for Services and Features

The Site also collects personally identifiable information when you choose to use certain other features of the Site, including but not limited to, requesting additional information. When you choose to use these additional features, we may require you to provide or update personal information in addition to other personal information that may be required to complete a transaction. Occasionally, we may also request information such as your preferences and demographics which will help us better serve you and our others users in the future.

  • Cookies

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s computer tied to information about the user. The Site does not and will not use cookies to collect private information from any user. This privacy statement covers the use of cookies by the Site and does not cover the use of cookies by any of its advertisers or any external site to which the Site links or any external site from which the Site links.

  • Google Analytics Demographics and Interest Reporting – This feature provides us insight into behavior information relating to visitor age, gender and interests on an anonymous and aggregate level.  This information is not provided at the level of a specific user.  This feature helps us understand browsing behavior to give you a better experience while visiting our site.

  • DoubleClick Platform and Remarketing with Google Analytics – This feature integrates our web analytics and paid advertising platforms together to give us additional insight. This allows us to better tailor the advertising and offers you see while visiting other sites.

We use non-identifying and aggregate information to better design our website and for business and administrative purposes. This Privacy Policy does not apply to any information you may disclose publicly in any chat rooms, message boards, or similar web pages.  You should keep in mind that whenever you publicly disclose information about yourself online that information could be collected and used by people whom you do not intend to collect or use it.  Additionally, certain publicly available posting areas may display IP addresses along with the user’s name and message.  We bear no responsibility for any action or policies of any third parties who collect any information users may disclose on the message boards, chat areas or other user forums, if any, on any website.

You will receive notice when your personally identifiable information might be provided to any third party for any reason other than as set forth in this Privacy Policy, and you will have an opportunity to request that we not share such information. Further, the Site reserves the right to contact you regarding matters relevant to the underlying service provided and/or the information collected so long as you have made use of the Site within the past 12 months.

We are committed to protecting the information we receive from you. We have implemented generally accepted standards of technology and operational security in order to protect your personally identifiable information against unauthorized access, alteration, misuse, disclosure, or destruction of data. Despite these precautions, however, we cannot guarantee that unauthorized persons will not obtain access to your personally identifiable information.

The Site does not process payments directly. Instead, the Site sends your personal information and order details to a secure and reputable third party payment site to process the transaction securely.  This means that you enter sensitive banking or credit account information over a secure SSL connection designed specifically for your protection during the payment process. Thus, the Site does not request or store banking or credit account information.

 

4. Accessing and Updating Personal Information and Preferences

We provide mechanisms for updating and correcting your personal information for many of our services.  You may modify or remove your personal information at any time by logging into your account and accessing “Edit Profile”.

 

5. Email Choice/Opt-out

If you no longer wish to receive updates or notifications, you may opt-out of receiving these communications by changing your “Email Notification” settings in your “Account Settings” or by emailing us from the email address on your account to administration@discoveryworldschools.com and including your username.

6. California Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

Because we value your privacy, we have taken the necessary precautions to be in compliance with the California Online Privacy Protection Act. We, therefore, will not distribute your personal information to outside parties in a manner that is not outlined above without your consent.

As part of the California Online Privacy Protection Act, all users of our site may make any changes to their information at anytime by logging into their account and going to the ‘Edit Profile’ page.

 

7. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

We are in compliance with the requirements of COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act), as we do not collect any information from anyone under 13 years of age. Our website and services are directed to people who are at least 13 years old.

 

8. Children’s Privacy

This is not a general audience website. The information is requested from parents with children. We do not solicit personal information from children.

Users should be aware that the information they provide about their children when using the Site is collected, stored, and used in accordance with the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy of the Site.

If you are concerned about the transmission of your child’s information over the internet or the storage of your child’s information in our databases for any reason, we recommend that you enter a nickname that will reduce the ability of anyone to identify your child.  If you do this, you must inform us of the nickname used so that we know to which child the information with the associated nickname belongs. If you are concerned about risks above, we recommend not entering your child’s information and to contact us by telephone, fax, mail, or in-person instead.

By consenting to the Terms and Conditions of the Site and hence the Privacy Policy, you consent that no data transmission over the Internet is completely secure. We cannot guarantee or warrant the security of any information you provide to us and you transmit such information to us at your own risk.
